Spiaggia remaiolo elbaisola

A great tour proposal for beginners is on Monte Calamita starting from our Elba MTB Capoliveri office. From there we will set off towards Poggio Fino to take the dirt path that circumnavigates Monte Calamita. In doing so we will tell you about the history of this side of the island within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, passing by rare wild orchids and stopping to observe the territory and landscapes of the Archipelago.

The high road is a very panoramic route that goes all around Monte Calamita staying at an average height of 300m, with a spectacular view over much of the island. Departure from our headquarters on the Costa dei Gabbiani, a wild stretch located on the eastern coast of the island of Elba, dominated by Monte Calamita and the homonymous network of paths of the Capoliveri Bike Park. The name derives from the presence of the yellow-legged gull, which lives in this stretch of coast and nests there.

The vegetation is composed of high cliffs overlooking the sea (the summit of Monte Calamita, Garitta, reaches 400m above sea level) and many small coves and beaches, mostly private within the Tenuta delle Ripalte. In fact, once you arrive at the Tenuta delle Ripalte, it will not be possible to continue with motorized vehicles, unless you are guests of the structure.

The Island of Elba has a demanding territory: many peaks and little plain, with a natural bottom, therefore not modeled with bulldozers or anything else.

These aspects are what make Elba unique and wild, a true pearl of the Mediterranean. It is the largest of the islands of the Tuscan archipelago and the third largest in Italy (223 km²).

Elba, together with the other islands of the archipelago (Pianosa, Capraia, Gorgona, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri), is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park.

MTB TRAILS ELBA ISLAND

Elba Island offers easier routes in the eastern part (Capoliveri Bike Park, also recommended for beginners and children) to become increasingly demanding moving towards the West, until reaching the Costa del Sole/Monte Capanne where we find only S3/S4 routes, more suitable for trekking than for cycling (with MTB we recommend exploration only to expert bikers equipped with full-suspension bikes).
