There is a magical place for us bikers, and not only, on the island of Elba: it is the promontory of Monte Calamita which, despite the mining and industrial exploitation of the past, is currently one of the most beautiful, wild and least built-up corners of the entire Tuscan Archipelago. A “mountain” on the sea characterized by Mediterranean scrub and pine forests, overhanging cliffs crossed by dirt roads and panoramic paths, agricultural areas and a large mining area with walls and rocks of a thousand colors.

Epic Tour proposal: departure from Marina di Campo, passing through Monte Perone and crossing the Capanne, until you reach Chiessi, a magnificent village where you can breathe an Elba of other times, which creates an explosive contrast with all the adrenaline accumulated during the descent… and you can’t miss a dip in the sea! Inaugurated in 2021, it is composed of 4 permanent routes of varying difficulty and length that cross the areas of the Vie del Granito, one of the most suggestive areas of the island, above the villages of San Piero and Sant’Ilario. The routes are marked by a color and indicated by special signs that indicate the name and direction to follow:
Pieve di San Giovanni BLUE – medium level Il Castagnone percorso YELLOW – difficult level, challenging climb Case Vecchie percorso RED – difficult level, challenging climb Masso alla Guata percorso BLACK – very difficult level, suitable for enduro riders
Elba MTB Lacona: Residence and services for bikers
Elba MTB Lacona is located inside the Residence il Mandorlo, one of the facilities affiliated with Elba Bike Hotels. Like all Elba MTB locations, it is open to both internal and external guests. In a central position on the island, it is ideal for easily reaching all the most beautiful beaches on the island. A well-kept residence managed directly by the owners (Mountain Bike lovers) to always feel at home and among the family.
An oasis of relaxation in the heart of the Elba Island Natural Park, a true paradise for families and for lovers of mountain biking and trekking, just a few steps from the sandy beach of Lacona and a quarter of an hour’s drive from the most important locations on the island. The family atmosphere that reigns in our small residence guarantees guests a truly relaxing holiday without neglecting the seriousness of a well-organized, comfortable and absolutely functional structure.
The location makes the Mandorlo the ideal starting point to discover this wonderful island. In our structure you can find apartments and rooms equipped with every comfort, a splendid swimming pool, a small bar where you can be pampered with an excellent breakfast or where you can enjoy an evening aperitif, the little ones have several play areas available and for bikers everything you need for a real holiday on two wheels.
Elba MTB Capoliveri: Mountain Biking at Monte Calamita
Inside the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, in the Ripalte – Capoliveri area, there is the Tenuta delle Ripalte, which has been active since 1896 as an old farm. In this natural oasis, there is our Bike Center with top-of-the-range e-bikes and MTBs. Like all Elba MTB locations, it is open to both insiders and outsiders of the facility.
Born in 2015, with the name of Costa dei Gabbiani Bike Center, it later became Bike Center Elba and was then incorporated into the world of Elba MTB. It boasts rental services, bike tours, courses, Bike Shuttle (Elba MTB) and internships with mountain bike professionals. It is also the summer headquarters of the 365mountainbike portal. From beginners to experts, everyone can have fun, thanks also to the beach party services with music and good food, after a bike ride.
Elba MTB Capoliveri is inside the magnificent Tenuta delle Ripalte Resort overlooking the sea that extends for over 400 hectares: part of the routes of the Capoliveri Bike Park, which has a maze of dirt roads and paths that extends for about 100km, is right inside the Tenuta delle Ripalte property. In short, the ideal place to set off on your MTB without ever having to touch the asphalt road, to discover Monte Calamita and the Costa dei Gabbiani.
Our facility is right in the center of the Estate, on the lawn in front of the tennis courts, the restaurant, the bar and the swimming pool, the latter services open to all, therefore also to those who are not guests of the accommodation facility. Come and visit us, even just to ask for information, and understand what paradise we are in and what we can offer you, both for those who go by bike and for those who, if they want, stay and wait… maybe on the beach! There is also an excellent Diving Center (di Michele Bovo) and the La Bosana Equestrian Center, the only one on Elba. The Tennis center is among the most exclusive at an international level thanks to important collaborations such as the Riccardo Piatti Stages which in the past brought a young Jannik Sinner for many years.
From Capoliveri we are easily reachable by bike and also by car, with the possibility of parking and use of the bar for Bike Center customers. By bike from the Bike Park, along paths and dirt roads closed to traffic, you can easily reach the beautiful coves and isolated beaches of the Costa dei Gabbiani and, with a little more effort, the top of Calamita.
